I have had my hair cut at Borealis my whole life. They always make me look and feel good! They are good at what they do and they always find time to fit you in if you desperately need it. They have great products and always give you tips that are great to use at home. The conversation is always fun! I also get my brows waxed here and they do an amazing job!

I have been a client of Virginia's at Borealis for over 20 years. I colour my hair every 6 weeks and more than anything I trust Virginia. My hairstyle has changed many times over those years...and I always walk away feeling my best. On top of excelling at their craft - this team is made up of the most generous and giving souls in our community. Every year these girls run fundraisers and pull together community members to provide a FULL Christmas experience for over 100 families in need in our community. They lead with their hearts and work tireless extra hours to give back. Last week - my 90 year old grandmother...who has not left the house in months...was in desperate need of a haircut before attending her great-granddaughters concert. One call to Virginia and she had her in the next day - slotted between clients and multitasking to accommodate our needs. My grandmother left feeling like she had been pampered. I am forever grateful....and forever proud to be a Borealis client.
I moved to Qualicum Beach a week ago and I started to look for places, services I needed. One of them was the hair salon.Today I entered a new gym and couple of members approached me, one specifically, because she like the color of my hair. And that's when I asked if they can recommend a good hairstylist. This place was mentioned and since it was barely a block away from the gym, on my way home, I stopped there. I was "welcomed" by a cold, no-interest-attitude-stylist who was just with her client. Her "May I help you" sounded more like "I have no time to talk to you now", didn't discourage me, so I asked, if she bleaches hair with 40% volume peroxide to get a result I currently have - which is light blond, definitely NO yellow, but at the same time, no dull, ashy, grey color as a result. She replied that she tones after bleaching. I asked if that is still a case, if I asked her not too. "I've never heard of bleaching and not toning"....she said.I may not be a hairstylist, but as a European, we do our hair from the age of 12-13. I know a lot about what my hair can handle and what products can be used. I don't want toners and I never liked their result. The hairdresser I am talking about had a shoulder-length hair, grey-ish - the color I don't like. She certainly cares more of what she wants, rather than the paying costumer. I found another place - awesome lady, great attitude, nice energy at her salon. I booked the appointment with her.I would never enter Borealis.
